Parents = Techno Spies

And you thought your teenagers were clever! Technology has harnessed in them the ability to cover tracks like the little criminals they are—fiendish and frenzied, they are. Perverted, they may be. Yoda from Star Wars, this writer is. But the fact is whatever sites in which your teens are snooping around, everyone knows the “Clear History” command on most browsers prevents the frontal assault a parent usually unleashes—no more of that. Kids have gotten smart. Clearing the cache is the equivalent of diffusing a bomb. They know which wire to cut.

All hope is not lost, though, helpless parents! You can still keep a clever eye on your kiddies with ease, using this computer tip. The first thing you need to know is this: everyone knows that when it’s cleared from the History Cache, it’s gone right? WRONG. The word to use is not “gone.” The word to use is actually “invisible.” Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not really there.

You first need a special type of software called Super WinSpy, which allows you to read hidden files on your computer. See, what clearing the cache on your browser does is basically render the data invisible on the browser and it on your C drive. The question then remains: where on your C drive? Simply hit Start, then Search, next would be Files and Folders, and the last to click All Files and Folders will bring up everything on the C. The trick is to look for any files titled ‘index.dat.’ Those are the files your browser stores from the cache. That’s when your Super WinSpy comes in. It converts the data files to readable status, and guess what: you can see exactly where your troubled teens have been surfing. You, the parent, have become the techno spy of the ages.

Now the only thing to figure out is how to get past that Google Chrome incognito window. Hmm….
